The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/CE restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain flame retardants in electrical and electronic products. This Directive applies to all electrical and electronic products placed on the EU market after July 1, 2006, with various exemptions, including an exemption for lead solder in network infrastructure equipment.
