NEWPORT NETWORKS BRINGS NEXT GENERATION SESSION CONTROLLER FOR MOBILE NETWORKS TO 3GSM CANNES
Cannes, France: 14 February 2005: Newport Networks (LSE-NNG) the developer of carrier-class IP Session Controllers will be illustrating how it enables the profitable delivery of next generation mobile services at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes this week.
The Newport Networks 1460 is a vital element in the new breed of Internet Protocol based infrastructure networks. Newport's deep packet processing capability offers Connect, Control and Charge features which ensure reliable and consistent networking while reducing costs and accelerating the introduction of new applications and services.
In a White Paper entitled "Session Controllers and 3GPP" published to coincide with 3GSM, Newport's technology team explore the role of session controller technology and its relationship to the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). It reveals how session controller technology is an essential network component in the evolution from 2/ 2.5G networks to 3G and an all IP infrastructure.
Of special interest to mobile operators, this White Paper is also of relevance to fixed operators moving towards end-to-end IP networks as they consider solutions for effective interconnection arrangements.
It explains in detail:
- How the 1460 supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) the Third Generation Partnership Project's signalling protocol of choice.
- The implications raised by the progressive deployment of Universal Mobile Telephone System (UMTS) Release 5 based architectures, and in particular how inter-connect from mobile to mobile and mobile to fixed line networks requires session border controller technology.
- How the 1460 will provide functions which are vital for effective interconnection, including:
- Bandwidth management
- Limitation of Denial of Service attacks
|
- IPv4 to IPv6 conversion
- Protocol inter-working
